District Newsletter: December 2023

Assemblymember Rubio

Greetings everyone,

It is my pleasure to represent the 48th Assembly District in the California State Legislature. This term serves as my 7th year as a Legislator in the California State Assembly. It is an honor to serve over 498,000 residents in our district and collaborate with nine cities in the San Gabriel Valley. I am excited to share our 2023 December Newsletter and ensure our communities stay up-to-date with state-related matters.

Community Engagement

7th Annual AD48 Holiday Toy Drive

My 7th Annual Holiday Toy Drive was a success. Together, we collected toys to provide to our children in the 48th Assembly District. Thank you to our friends in the San Gabriel Valley for spreading the holiday cheer. I look forward to continuing to work with our local leaders and making a difference in the lives of our residents.

26th Annual Santa Clothes Event

This was a December to remember! I was happy to participate in the 26th Annual Santa Clothes Project in Baldwin Park. Over 400 students from Baldwin Park Unified School District were provided with a free shopping spree at Walmart. As a former Baldwin Park School Board member, this is one of my favorite events. We thank our school leaders and community sponsors across the 48th Assembly District for prioritizing the well-being of our students.

Baldwin Park Holiday Spree
Covina Christmas Parade

It was a pleasure to attend the 72nd Annual City of Covina Christmas Parade and spread holiday cheer to our friends and families of the 48th Assembly District. With the holiday season over, I look forward to continue participating in the seasonal traditions. The Covina Christmas Parade was filled with much enjoyment, and I can’t wait to participate again next year.

The San Gabriel Economic Partnership’s Merry Mingle

What an honor it was to attend the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership (SGVEP) 21st Annual Merry Mingle. Thank you to the amazing sponsors and individuals who donated essential items to YWCA San Gabriel Valley for the holidays. These proceeds will support their WINGS Domestic Violence Shelter and programs, which serve more than 2,000 families annually in the fighting 48th.

Esperanza Villa’s Holiday Luncheon

I am proud my team was able to participate in the Esperanza Villa’s Holiday Luncheon in the city of Baldwin Park. This was a fantastic event to wrap up the season by giving back to our communities. Thank you to those who passed out tasty tamales and Christmas gifts!

Tiny Home Luncheon
Serenity Homes Holiday Celebration

It brought me great joy to attend the Serenity Homes Holiday Party to celebrate a successful year in the City of Baldwin Park. It was an honor to meet many families and provide a special holiday gift. I remain grateful for the opportunity to spread cheer to our #fighting48th community and ring in the New Year. Happy 2024!

Legislative Update

It is an honor to have been selected for five standing committees this year by Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas. New committees include Banking and Finance, and Insurance. Each will entail unique issues to California, of which I will proudly represent the #fighting48th.
