District Newsletter: February 2024

Assemblymember Rubio

Greetings everyone,

It is my pleasure to represent the 48th Assembly District in the California State Legislature. This term serves as my 8th year as a Legislator in the California State Assembly. It is an honor to serve over 498,000 residents in our district and collaborate with nine cities in the San Gabriel Valley. I am excited to share our 2024 February Newsletter and ensure our communities stay up-to-date with state-related matters.

Young Legislators Program (YLP) – Policy Panel Discussion

Our 2024 Young Legislator’s Policy Panel is one for the books. Students learned about different public service careers and gained insights on how a bill becomes law.

We thank our panelists, Linda Apodaca, Enrique Zaldivar, Peter Hidalgo, Victor Benavides, and Jose Martinez, for sharing their work and connection to the Legislature. Thank you, Mayor Emmanuel Estrada, for hosting our Young Legislators Program.

Assemblymember Papan Visits the 48th Assembly District

It was an honor to welcome Assemblymember Diane Papan, Chair of Water, Parks, and Wildlife Committee, and Senator Maria Elena Durazo to our 48th Assembly District. As a former water board member, I understand the need to invest in our water infrastructure in the #fighting48th and California.

Special thanks to Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District and each of our local water agencies for their efforts in organizing a successful Water Supply Tour. May we continue to amplify our message for the future of water in the San Gabriel Valley.

Assembly Bill 2222 (Rubio)
BER Telemundo AB2222

Thank you to our media community for highlighting the importance of my bill, Assembly Bill 2222 (AB2222), to our communities across California.

AB 2222 creates a clear, comprehensive, evidence-based approach grounded in the science of reading to ensure all students are proficient, skilled readers by the end of elementary school.

As a lifelong educator and English learner myself, I am determined to improve the educational experience for our youth. See it here:

Fight Against Fentanyl

I was proud to stand with Assemblymember Carlos Villapudua and colleagues to protect our families from fentanyl.

As a mother of two teenagers, I will #FightAgainstFentanyl in AD48 and California. Learn more about Assembly Bill 2336 (Villapudua) and visit the US Drug Enforcement Administration website.

National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

Each February, we recognize Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.

As Chair of the Assembly Select Committee on Domestic Violence, I was honored to speak to our youth and empower our students to speak out against this school safety issue. May we continue educating our youth on the importance of healthy relationships and violence prevention.
