District Newsletter: January 2025

Hello and happy, loving February to everyone,

I wish you all a bright 2025; whether you celebrate the New Year with new goals, new dreams, or a renewed zest for your day-to-day activities, I hope it is your best one yet.

It is my pleasure to represent the 48th Assembly District in the California State Legislature. This term marks my 9th year as a legislator in the California State Assembly. It is an honor to serve over 498,000 residents in our district and collaborate with nine cities across the San Gabriel Valley. I am excited to share our January 2025 Newsletter and ensure our communities stay up-to-date on state-related matters.

Community Partner: Walmart and Tyson Farms
Walmart and Tyson Farms

A special thank you to Walmart and their Disaster Relief Team and Tyson Farms, who partnered in food distribution in the cities of Duarte, Covina, and Baldwin Park, to both First Responders dispatched to firefight and the families affected by the wildfires. Approximately 8,000 hot meals were served, featuring a delicious variety of BBQ chicken, hot dogs, and burgers. Thank you to La Puente Women’s Club and other volunteers for their efforts, energy, and compassion in this extraordinary event.

Groundbreaking of Irwindale Library
Groundbreaking of Irwindale Library

This month, I got to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Irwindale Library. Back in 2022, I was able to secure half a million dollars in state funding for the renovation of the library. I am really excited to see how these funds will help the library become an even more welcoming and inspiring learning environment for our community members of all ages!

This past weekend, we launched the 2025 Young Legislators Program at the MAD City Money workshop in Irwindale. During the workshop, our students learned about the importance of financial literacy and participated in a hands-on simulation that featured real-life scenarios. Thank you to Rize Credit Union for partnering with my office to help ensure our students are equipped with tools to help expand their financial understanding, give them confidence in money matters, and prepare them for a bright future.
