District Newsletter: March 2024

Assemblymember Rubio

Greetings,

It is my pleasure to represent the 48th Assembly District in the California State Legislature. This term serves as my 8th year as a Legislator in the California State Assembly. It is an honor to serve over 498,000 residents in our district and collaborate with nine cities in the San Gabriel Valley. I am excited to share our 2024 March Newsletter and ensure our communities stay up-to-date with state-related matters.

Young Legislators Program (YLP) – Athens Service Tour

It was a pleasure to partner with Athens Services for our third Young Legislators Program. Our students had the opportunity to learn about Athens’ legislative involvement, new ways to be eco-friendly, and toured the Materials Recovery Facility.

Foothill Transit’s 27th Annual Bus Rodeo

It was great to put my bus driving skills to the test again this year at Foothill Transit’s 27th Annual Bus Rodeo.

Thank you to Foothill Transit for continuing to go the extra mile to safely connect our families to their destinations. Can’t wait for next year.

Chair of the Domestic Violence Committee

As Chair of the Assembly Select Committee on Domestic Violence, I was happy to host the first in-person hearing since the pandemic.

Our discussion centered on the need for cultural competency, enhanced information, and offering resources with enhanced language accessibility. As a diverse state, our resources need to match and meet the needs of every community.

Early Literacy Bill AB 2222

It’s National Reading Month! I invite you to learn about my Early Literacy Bill (AB 2222) and make your voice heard. Assembly Bill 2222 creates a clear, comprehensive, evidence-based approach grounded in the science of reading to ensure all students are proficient, skilled readers by the end of elementary school.

AB 2222 heads to the Assembly Education Committee and Assembly Higher Education Committee this spring. Voice your support by signing the petition. You can find the full press release here on my website to learn more.
