Greetings everyone,
It is my pleasure to represent the 48th Assembly District in the California State Legislature. This term will serve as my 7th year as a Legislator in the California State Assembly. It is an honor to serve over 498,000 residents in our district and collaborate with nine cities in the San Gabriel Valley. I am excited to share our 2023 November Newsletter and ensure our communities stay up-to-date with state-related matters.
Community Engagement
Assemblywoman Rubio Provides Thousands of Turkeys to Families in the District
I was proud to host my seventh annual AD 48 Operation Gobble Drive-Thru Turkey & Food Giveaway in partnership with Foothill Unity Center, Charter Oak Unified School District, City of Covina, Covina Police Department, Jan's Towing Inc., and AAA Auto Club Enterprises. Hundreds of residents, local leaders, and students from our high schools dedicated their time to volunteering for this amazing cause.
Over the years, this event has expanded due to the need in our community. I am grateful to continue spreading holiday cheer to our families and contributing towards a greater quality of life for our neighbors. Thank you to our sponsors and everyone who lent a helping hand.
2023 Veterans Day Commemoration
Happy Veteran’s Day in the Fighting 48th! Let us take a moment to pause and pay our respects to the brave men and women who have served and are currently serving in our nation’s armed forces. We celebrate their patriotism, selflessness, and willingness to sacrifice for the common good. To the veterans in our community, we salute and thank you for your service.
California Armenian Legislative Caucus Foundation Event
Thank you to the California Armenian Legislative Caucus Foundation, San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership (SGVEP), California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), and the City of Baldwin Park for an informative presentation on small businesses. Their wonderful panelists included Senator Susan Rubio, Assemblymember Rick Zbur, and Baldwin Park Mayor Emmanuel Estrada. The #fighting48th is home to 26,000 small businesses! It is essential that we empower our business owners and ensure they are equipped with the resources to grow and be successful. Please visit Go Biz for information on starting a business and learning about grant opportunities.
Occupational Therapy Association Vision Awardee
It was a pleasure to be recognized by the Occupational Therapy Association of California as their Vision Awardee! As a lifelong educator, I understand the vital role our occupational and physical therapists play in the lives of our youth and families in California. Thank you to the association for this thoughtful commemoration. I look forward to working with them in the future.
Legislative Update
It is an honor to be selected as Chair of the Assembly Committee on Governmental Organization by Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas. I look forward to working on issues affecting regulated bodies and ensuring an efficient government.
The California State Legislature will reconvene on January 3, 2024. I am excited to serve the 48th Assembly District in this new leadership role.
