Diabetes prevention can save health-care dollars: Guest commentary

Protecting and preserving the collective health of Californians is at the heart of what I do as a lawmaker at the California capitol. As we decide how to allocate state funds, we must consider a public health epidemic in California and across the nation.

Diabetes, which too often leads to cardiovascular disease (CVD) is putting an incredible strain on the health-care system, costing billions of dollars a year to treat and manage both diseases.
