Many people in California have shown concern for the treatment of elderly friends and family members who reside in nursing homes or residential care facilities. Most of these individuals are not aware of the protections California has put in place for our seniors, which is why I wanted to share some important information with you.
Authorized by the Federal Older Americans Act and its state companion, the Older Californians Act, the California State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program serves as a voice to protect seniors.
The goal of this program is to investigate and resolve complaints made by, or on behalf of, residents in long-term care facilities and to advocate for these individuals rights.
The phone number for the local Ombudsman office and the State CRISIS line number is 1-800-231-4024. The CRISIS line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to receive complaints from residents. These services are all free and confidential.
If I can be of assistance to you on this or any other state matter, please do not hesitate to contact my District Office at (626) 960-4457.
