Rubio, State Assembly Celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month

(Sacramento) – Assemblywoman Blanca E. Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) and the State Assembly recognized the importance, impact and contributions of California’s 10 million immigrants by approving House Resolution 44. The resolution designates June 2017 as Immigrant Heritage Month and encourages all Californians to celebrate the many forms of immigrant heritage. Speaking on behalf of herself and the Legislative Latino Caucus, Assemblywoman Rubio, who came to the U.S. from Mexico when she was a small child, said “As immigrants, once we have made it into this wonderful country, most of us want to be successful, want to be contributing members of society and we want to see a better life for our kids. HR 44 recognizes the countless contributions all immigrants have made to our society.” Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.
